The teacher will have:
- a thorough, accurate and appropriate knowledge and understanding of his/her area of specialization;
- an understanding of how his/her area of specialization is organized, and how it is linked to other disciplines and applied to real-life situations;
- an understanding of how to use a variety of subject specific instructional strategies;
- a knowledge of theories of cognition and growth and the ability to plan to accommodate the needs of diverse learners;
- an understanding of what it means to be a teacher and the responsibilities which the teacher carries;
- a knowledge of the social milieu in which he/she works and the culture of his/her country and its developmental needs and goals within a global context.
