The Joint Board of Teacher Education Foundation Limited is a registered
company under the Companies Act of Jamaica, with offices on the Mona Campus, UWI.
In pursuit of its main objective, to promote the development of teacher
education in particular and education in general, JBTE Foundation will
- Provide material and technical services to educational institutions,
particularly teacher education institutions, in participating countries
(defined in its articles of association) and internationally. It will also
provide services to other related entities and organizations where
appropriate, gratis or for payment.
- Engage in institutional, staff and materials development activities.
- Undertake and manage projects to meet specific developmental and
efficiency needs of teacher education in the Commonwealth Caribbean.
- Provide technical and consultancy services, as well as engage in
entrepreneurial activities such as software solutions, graphic design and
printing services, feasibility studies, and assessment and evaluation.
- Provide policy advice to governments, institutions and agencies in the
field of teacher education or other related and supporting fields.
- Take over the entire business of the unincorporated association known as
JBTE Enterprise, assuming its functions as well as ownership of its assets
and responsibility for its liabilities since 2002.

JBTE Foundation will also conduct research in teacher education and other
related fields to support JBTE's quality assurance work in teacher education.
Research findings will be disseminated through publication of books, pamphlets
and periodicals.
The Foundation evolved from JBTE Enterprise, which had been established in
1998 as JBTE's entrepreneurial arm The Enterprise's permanent staff provided
technical and administrative support for JBTE projects, offering a range of
services to the wider education community, including curriculum materials,
duplication and binding services and project management.
